The role required quite a transformation. People couldn’t understand or believe them, and I find that theme very interesting. It’s been a theme since the beginning of time that witches were hunted by man because of their supernatural powers. I love the fact the Witch Queen is fighting for the people of her time. It’s always a great challenge to play the villain in a movie, and I find that as a woman it’s pretty rare to have that kind of chance. Here, Engelbrecht talks about the appeal of playing a bad guy, her camaraderie with on-screen foes and the surprising training that’s made her a stronger actress.
